Now I lay me down to sleep

One of my favorite clients is wanting a mini change in her bedroom.  We created new bedding and window treatments for this space when she moved into her new home 2 years ago.  We created a plan at that time for the ultimate finish of the room as budget would allow.  So now it's time to take out the heavy sleigh bed and replace it with an upholstered headboard.

Here's how the room looks now.  I don't have a pic of her beautiful drapes....no idea why???
Her bedding is so soft and romantic...yet, colorful....just what she wants.

This is a closeup of the fabrics we've used in her bedding.

This is the lovely linen print that we used on the soft shades, and we'll cover the headboard in it as well.
Isn't it pretty?

I've been putting together some images for her to see.  And because I'm an image freak, I continued to collect pictures long after I had decided what we would do.  I just kept finding really cool headboards!

Do you have any idea how many different styles of upholstered headboards there are?  Could I settle for a simple curved shape?

or a standard rectangle?

NO, my friends, I just kept looking.  So even though I have now aquired  "headboard overkill", I've got some great and inspiring images to show you.

I think I'll do this shape.

And add some ribbon trim.

  3. Sally, there are some amazing options here. I agree with Marija, the last one really does it for me. I have a soft spot for grosgrain ribbon and anything pink. Hope to see photos of the completed project - looks like a good one!!

  4. Sally I just read your comment I love your advice, if only I could. I guess I will have to settle for the fountain on my porch or the pool in my backyard. Only problem, the antique rocker is staring at me because it is completely stripped and awaiting its new dress. It is a little intimidating and I am not sure I am up for the task! Yikes. I will send you a picture.

  6. I like a curve and nailhead trim. I want to get an upholstered headboard for my bedroom. I am waiting until we upgrade from queen size to king. We love to read in bed so I think this type of headboard would be ideal for us. Thanks for all the inspiration pics.

  13. All I could think of is how challenging it is to upholster a curved head-board...and then to add ribbon trim---yikes! I can't wait to see the finished project. You are a can-do lady!!! Please, please post the final project. Let us see how you combined all the lovely prints in those soft shades!
