Clearly, it’s still an important lighting trend that floats between vintage and traditional styling to modern and contemporary. There’s a tri pod lamp out there for everyone!
The vintage styling of the photographer’s tripod and adjustable light is a perfect fit for preppy, Ralph Lauren, and they had a large representation at market this January.
Are you a fan? Where will you put one in your home? For you DIY’ers out there, make your own tripod lamp with these instructions found here. Afterall, it is built from a tripod!

Hi Sally! Great coverage on the tripod lamp. I think they offer an intereesting architectural element to a room. They definitely are an item which should be planned for in the design/space plan. Being that they open up at the bottom, the base dimensions will be taking up more "real estate" than a regular floor or table lamp. For the do-it-yourselfer, keep this in mind when thinking about adding this style to your room. For active families or those with dogs who like to chase the family cat . . . well, you get the idea. :) With that said, I do love the look and hope to one day be able to place a tripod lamp in a client's home. - All my best! Wanda
ReplyDeleteThanks for weighing in, Wanda. Great points to consider. Many of them are really oversized in the first place, and when fully extended at the bottom, they do take a ton of space. I'm excited to use one too one day!
ReplyDeleteI love the look, but they do take up a lot of floor space! I'm enjoying hearing what people are seeing at the Markets! Janell
ReplyDeleteI have always thought they were such a cool look for den. I don't have room in mine but still really like them.Kathysue
ReplyDeleteI like the look as well, but doesn't really fit with my decor.
ReplyDeleteI really like the ones by Circa Lighting and RL Home.

Love some of the tripod lamps. We had a vintage pair that came from a military facility that were really cool. They sold, tho, so no longer get to look at them.

I agree with Wanda and Janell - although I love the look, you have to have plenty of space to accommodate them! But they are a light architectonic look that's airy as well!
