Bigger Things

In the wake of the devastation in Japan, it's hard to make blogging about interior design seem very important.

And even though we may not be individually touched by this natural disaster, as citizens of the planet, we are all affected.  The pictures I keep seeing of the devastation are etched in my mind today.

Perhaps tonight I'll think about spring and beautiful chandeliers and cheery colors....after all....life goes on....but in the darkness of this early morning, my thoughts are on heavier things.

Here's a link from USA Today with organizations you can contact to offer help and support.
Please pray in whatever way works for you.

  1. There is much hope in these pictures that what was will someday be again for all of the people in Japan. Thanks for the post and the site.

  2. I absolutely agree with you, design doesn't really seem important in the face of this. Then again, gruesome things happen all around the world every second of every day, and we are constantly updated with bad news. We can not, and more importantly, will not look away when something like this happens, and being able to escape for a few minutes each day, not worrying about the world, can't be so bad?

That being said, my heart aches for the people who lost their lives, loved ones, their homes and everything they worked for. Also, I can't even imagine how it feels to not know what happened to your family, or to worry about the implications of this disaster. They are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. You're so right, as we watch the coverage warm and dry with plenty to eat and a warm bed to retire to at night it's hard to fathom what it must be like for those who lost homes and are still searching for loved ones.

  4. So tragic. Hard to believe that with all our technological prowess, this couldn't have been predicted. That being said, I think Japan is handling this with as much dignity as possible.

  5. True words for sure. It's important to remember the unfortunate ones and focus on our luck and fortune.

  6. Yes, I have found it harder to write my posts this week, started the week with a post sharing some easy ways to lend a helping hand. It's a terrible situation and those of use left less effected are not sure how to deal with it I think, helping in ways we can makes all the difference.
